ABOUT THE SERIES

The Thomasville History Geocaching Series takes players to sixteen of Thomasville's most significant historic sites, from The Big Oak to The Piney Woods Hotel. At each location, players use the Geocaching App or a GPS device to find a container, or geocache, hidden in plain sight around Thomasville. On the app and Geocaching.com, each cache has a description of the significance of the site, historic photos, and other relevant information. To experienced Geocachers or first-timers, The Thomasville History Geocaching Series provides the perfect opportunity to get outside and learn about the storied history of Thomasville, Georgia. Most of the series is located within walking distance of Downtown Thomasville and its many shops and restaurants. WHAT is geocaching?

Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location.
